Meet Megan Withroder
Hi! My name is Megan Withroder, and I would love to assist you and your family with your estate planning needs. I began my career as an attorney in 2013, in the corporate legal department of a large company where I worked on a variety of commercial, contract, real estate, and environmental matters.
When COVID hit, the world changed, and I found myself frantically attempting to care for my aging mother. As her cognitive abilities declined, my sister and I hurried to put her affairs in order and make sure we understood her wishes while she could still communicate them. Around this same time, a friend of mine, who I went to kindergarten with, tragically died of cancer – leaving behind two young sons.
Shortly thereafter, I had my son, Charlie, and turned to my own life to ensure that he would be cared for should anything unexpected happen to me and/or my husband. When I felt the impact of these issues in such a deeply personal way, I realized that I wanted to shift my practice towards helping people, rather than companies. While no one can eliminate the pain and hardship of these events, having plans in place can significantly ease the burden on your family during already difficult times.
So, while estate planning may seem like a pile of legalese for wealthy people, it is far more. For me, it is the ability to help a family care for their loved ones – particularly if those loved ones are unable due to capacity or age – to care for themselves. I want to help other families put in place the plans they need to protect their families and reduce the hardship of inherently difficult events. I will also look for ways for your plan to save you money, so that your legacy may be enjoyed by your loved ones and any charities you choose, not swallowed by government fees and taxes.
I am currently serving clients in Utah and Washington.
